China Virus Outbreak

Updated: 26/02/2020 11:25

Following the coronavirus outbreak which has now been named COVID-19, there have been several developments and we continue to express our deepest sympathies.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) have since advised against all travel to Hubei Province and all but essential travel to the rest of China. They have also advised against all but essential travel to Daegu and Cheongdo in South Korea.

The most recent FCO update has advised against all but essential travel to parts of Italy, including 10 small towns in Lombardy (Codogno, Castiglione d’Adda, Casalpusterlengo, Fombio, Maleo, Somaglia, Bertonico, Terranova dei Passerini, Castelgerundo and San Fiorano) and one in Veneto (Vo’ Euganeo), which have been isolated by the Italian authorities.

We continue to recommend that all travellers monitor the latest advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for your chosen destination at www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.

The BBC continue to update their articles responding to travellers concerns, which can be found at www.bbc.co.uk/news/coronavirus.

As previously mentioned, if your travel plans are cancelled or rearranged, providing you have not travelled or claimed on your OK To Travel Insurance policy, we can provide a full refund of the insurance cost or shift the policy to an alternative destination or date.

If you have any further questions regarding COVID-19 and your travel insurance, please contact us on 01223 446 920.

Following the coronavirus outbreak in China we would like to express our deepest sympathies to those affected.

We would advise all travellers to check the latest government FCO travel advice for China at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/china.

The BBC have devised a series of articles responding to travellers concerns and queries which can be found at www.bbc.co.uk/news/coronavirus.

If you are no longer intending to travel to any of the affected areas, we are prepared to explore options of shifting your policy to an alternative destination or date. Providing there have been no claims, we can look into fully refunding the insurance policy.

Please continue to monitor FCO travel advice for the latest travel updates or call us on 01223 446 920 to express any questions.
