As the national lockdown in England comes to an end on 2nd December 2020, the government have re-introduced the COVID three-tier system. What does this mean for travel and your OK To Travel cover?
For a complete run down of the new three-tier system, visit gov.uk/local-restrictions
International travel will be permitted under all tiers. However, all travellers check the latest travel advice from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office prior to purchasing a policy or travelling. There will be no cover under this policy if you travel to a country or area where the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) or government are advising against all or all but essential travel.
If you live in a tier 1 or tier 2 area and travel to an area in a higher tier you should follow the rules for that area whilst you are there. Avoid travel to or overnight stays in tier 3 areas other than where necessary. You can travel through a tier 3 area as part of a longer journey.
OK To Travel cover will be invalid if you travel to a tier 3 area unless you are travelling through as part of a longer journey. Any overnight stay in a tier 3 area will invalidate your insurance cover.
Emergency medical expenses including costs associated with COVID-19 are covered up to £10 million on all levels of cover.
Cancellation relating to COVID-19 is only covered on Premier Plus policies purchased from 20th August 2020. This is only applicable if you, or anyone named on your policy, tests positive for COVID-19 within 14 days of your trip starting.
Premier Plus policies purchased from 20th August 2020 include additional COVID-19 benefits. You can find more details here.
Please note: All travellers should check the latest FCDO travel advise for their chosen destination at gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice prior to purchasing insurance or travelling. There will be no cover under this policy if you travel to a country or specific area where the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) or government are advising against all or all but essential travel.
